Would You Rather Questions: Funny, Clean Picks for Kids and Groups
200+ clean would you rather questions sorted by category: funny, kids, work, food, superpowers, and more. Includes rules, five game variations, and a free generator.

The first two would you rather questions usually tell you whether a group is going to play along. At Grandma's table, I want a prompt that gets a laugh without making anyone explain themselves.
There are 200+ prompts here, split into twelve categories. Pick a section and start reading, or use the generator below when nobody wants to choose the first card.
I first discovered how well this game works when I ran a team offsite for twelve people who barely knew each other. By the third question - "Would you rather present without slides or whiteboard with no markers?" - the room was laughing and arguing, and nobody had checked their phone in ten minutes. Phones stayed in pockets. Good enough.

Would You Rather Generator
Choose a mode (PG, kids, work), tap Generate, and read the prompt aloud. The generator avoids repeats so you can keep tapping without pre-planning a list.
How to play Would You Rather (2-minute rules)
The rules fit on an index card:
- One person reads the question out loud.
- Everyone picks A or B. No "both," no "neither," no wiggling out of it.
- Optional: share a one-sentence reason. Keep it short so the game stays fast.
- Add a pass card. Anyone can skip one prompt per game with zero explanation.
- Rotate who reads each round so the facilitator gets to play too.
Pacing tip: 20 to 30 seconds per answer is enough. If a question sparks a real debate, let it run for a minute, then move on. The game is better when it flows.

Teacher tip: Print ten of these on slips, put them in a jar, and let a student draw one at morning circle. It's a two-minute warm-up that kids genuinely look forward to.
Would you rather questions for work
These stay professional and still feel human. I've used the meeting-opener ones in standups - the trick is to let people answer quickly and move on. Nobody wants a 15-minute debate about PTO policy at 9 a.m.
- Would you rather swap jobs with the person to your left for a day or shadow your CEO for a day?
- Would you rather present without slides or whiteboard with no markers?
- Would you rather have one meeting-free day per week or a strict 25-minute timer on all meetings?
- Would you rather have an automatic note-taker in every call or an automatic agenda in every calendar invite?
- Would you rather work from a new city each month or get a budget for any home-office gear you want?
- Would you rather communicate only by async messages for a day or only by meetings for a day?

- Would you rather have unlimited PTO but stricter planning or fixed PTO but zero guilt using it?
- Would you rather have your calendar auto-block focus time or your inbox auto-sort everything perfectly?
- Would you rather work on one big project for a month or rotate small tasks every day?
- Would you rather always have clear requirements or always have plenty of time?
- Would you rather end every call five minutes early or start every call five minutes late?

- Would you rather have a standing desk or a walking-pad desk?
- Would you rather get daily honest feedback or surprise compliments only?
- Would you rather be known for reliability or known for creativity?
- Would you rather always know what to say in a meeting or always know when to stay quiet?
Remote team variation: Drop A/B in the chat, then pick two people to share their reasoning. It takes about 90 seconds and warms up a cold Zoom room faster than "How was everyone's weekend?"

Five game variations to keep it fresh
1. Hot Seat
One person sits in the hot seat and answers five questions in a row from the group. Then the next person takes the seat. It's faster than round-robin and puts a fun spotlight on one person at a time.
2. Debate Mode
After everyone answers, pick the two people who feel strongest about opposite sides. Give them 30 seconds each to make their case. The group votes on the most convincing argument (not the answer they agree with). I've seen this turn a family dinner into a courtroom drama over whether unlimited pizza or unlimited ice cream is the superior life choice.
3. Ranking Challenge
Read four questions. Everyone writes down A or B for each one. Compare answers — whoever matches the most with a chosen "judge" wins the round. Rotate the judge every four questions.
4. Zoom or Chat Vote
Drop A/B in the chat, then pick two people to share the "why." Works for remote teams, online classrooms, or group chats. Screenshare the Would You Rather Generator and tap once per round so nobody has to prep.
5. Story Chain
After someone answers, they have to tell a 30-second story explaining what would happen next. "I'd choose flying at walking speed — and I'd use it to commute to work floating three feet above traffic while everyone stares." It turns a choice into a mini creative-writing exercise.
Tips for different settings
In the classroom
- Use 8–12 prompts from the kids or school sections for a 10-minute activity.
- Print prompts on slips and let students draw from a jar. It gives them ownership.
- Pair with a one-sentence writing prompt: "Explain why you chose A."
- Let students submit their own questions for next week's jar. You'll get some wildly creative ones.
At the office
- Cap it at 3–5 prompts from the work section to keep it under 5 minutes.
- Avoid anything about salary, personal relationships, or management decisions.
- For remote teams, the chat-vote method keeps cameras optional and introverts included.
- Rotate who reads each week — it distributes the "social energy" cost.
At a party or sleepover
- Mix categories: start funny, then superpowers, then deep when the energy is right.
- Use the pass card. Somebody will need it, and the game is better when people feel safe.
- Keep a running list of any 50/50 splits — those are your best questions for next time.
On a road trip
- One person reads from their phone. Rotate every 10 questions.
- Keep the pass rule. Being in a car is not a reason to pressure anyone into answering.
- Play the story-chain variation to fill long stretches of highway.

- Never Have I Ever Questions (PG) — similar energy, different mechanic
- Spin the Bottle Ideas — questions and dares with a spinner
- Truth or Dare for Teens — add a dare element
- Question of the Day for Work — broader team-building prompts
- Light Roast Ideas — playful teasing for close friends
Or let the Would You Rather Generator handle the picks. Tap generate, read it out loud, and keep the group moving without any prep.
